A short story about our company

ProRisk Advisors was founded in 2013 with the mission to serve individuals and businesses by making them aware of the most critical financial risks they are exposed to and helping them find the most complete and cost effective solutions for managing that risk. 

While PRA is experienced with all types of financial risk, we have chosen to focus the practice on those specific areas where we have a level of expertise that exceeds other risk advisory firms. The three levels of expertise are Paycheck Protection (Disability Insurance), Life Insurance, and Legacy Planning.

In order to offer the most complete package of risk solutions, PRA has developed arrangements with a select group of professionals that work in areas where we have chosen not to focus. These arrangements were put in place to insure that we can direct a client to the best professional to deliver a solution that is in keeping with PRA's own philosophy of excellence.

Sr. Managing Partner

Jim began his career in the financial services industry in 1980 and has served the industry and his clients in many different capacities over the last 34 years.


In the early 80s, he worked with individual clients, helping them establish financial plans that directed unmanageable personal and business risk to select insured risk pools.  In the mid 80s he was recruited by Standard Insurance Company (a Fortune 1000, Portland based Insurance Company with 3000+ employees nationwide) where he served the next 28 years working with a wide range of responsibilities.  Founded in 1906, Standard Insurance Company became a publicly traded company in 1999 and shortly thereafter Jim was asked to take over responsibility of one of the company’s business lines.  Jim served as Vice President of the company for several years, retiring to co-found ProRisk Advisors in 2013.

Jim is a lawyer and remained active in the Washington BAR association for 30 years.  He has served on a number of boards including:

  • Warner Pacific College:  15 years as a trustee, 6 years board Chair

  • Oregon Independent College Foundation:  Trustee

  • Planned Given Advisory Council for the United Way of Columbia Willamette

  • Planned Giving Council for Mercy Corp International

  • Board of Trustees/Board Chair for Vancouver First Church of God

  • President’s Advisory Board for Warner Pacific College

  • Advisory Council for Kingsway Christian School

In addition to board duties, Jim has given numerous talks to industry planning groups both at the local and national level.  He has authored a number of articles on various financial topics and has been published in national trade journals such as the National Under Writer.

With 34 years in the industry and a wide range of experiences to draw from, Jim is excited about getting back to counseling individuals and businesses and sharing with others what he has learned along the way.



Jr. Managing Partner

James Teague enjoys collaborating with individuals and business owners on their financial plans for the future. He takes special pride in advising them of the pitfalls that can be avoided along the way, and options that mitigate the impact of those pitfalls.

James started in the industry in 2005 after graduating in the top of his class at Warner Southern College. During his first few years his focus was working on personal home and auto Insurance for State Farm Insurance. In 2007 James decided to expand his horizons and began training with Principal Financial where he gained his Securities license and additional tools that can be used for retirement and business planning.

From 2008 to 2013 James joined Biggs Insurance to bring his training and expertise to help mutual clients. Biggs Insurance is the largest locally owned insurance brokerage in SW Washington with over 40 employees and a wide variety of insurance services offered. In 2013 James partnered up with his father Jim to form ProRisk Advisors an independent financial and insurance firm that focuses on the needs of business owners and individuals.



Account Executive

Erik has spent his career with individual business owners and practice partners finding solutions for their challenges. Whether this is consulting with them on their insurance options or technical equipment he appreciates finding affordable alternatives and effective results.

Erik has been helping meet the needs of clients for more than 20 years starting in the mid 90’s with roles in account sales and development. Initially working with a technical consulting firm catering to small business he gained experience developing networking solutions.


In 1998 he obtained his MBA from Northwest Nazarene University. Starting in 1999 he broadened his experience helping practice owners within the medical field find healthcare solutions for clients. With territories across several Northwest states he helped clients interacting with multiple insurance providers during progressive roles within the medical field.

Joining ProRisk Advisors in 2017 Erik is looking forward to using his background and experience to meet the needs of clients and practice partners.
